If there is any time of the year that I, or most of the students for that matter, dread is exam time! It’s not just a worry for the students but also a headache for the parents. Parents do take extreme care not to shout on children during exams, lest they get disturbed and cannot study properly. That extra care is the only good thing I can think of when I think about exams. Everything else is just a mess! Except reading, everything else seems very interesting! Change WhatsApp Profile Picture to something like “Do Not Disturb” and then stay online whole day. Deactivate Facebook so that you can read and then re-activate it because Facebook is so much more interesting than studies! These are some of the common stunts that can be seen only during exam time.
Of all the exam related memes, this one is my favorite! It reads “Everyone was happy.. Then exams came”
Exams are also the only time I turn very religious. I can be seen standing in front of the Idol, folding hands and praying fervently. Every morning during the exams, I recite the same prayer –
“Dear God, I know I promised I will read from the beginning and won’t fret at the last minute. But somehow, I couldn’t do it this time. I was busy with… well you know I was busy. Okay I won’t lie. I became lazy. But this is the last time. If you help me pass with good marks, I promise I will definitely read from the very first day next time. I won’t become lazy. And this time I won’t break the promise”
Though that day never came where I kept my promise. Before every exam, the same prayer. If God could reply, I am sure He would ask me to at least prepare a new prayer!
That was about me. There are also people with some peculiar beliefs. One of my friend wore the same jean for every exam. He believed it brought him luck. The other never entered exam hall before the bell. It was a bad omen for her. My best friend had the belief that if I skipped a topic, that would end up in the exam. For every difficult topic I skipped and which appeared in the question paper, I had to hear a lecture from her! The craziest of all was a friend of mine who would stay away from the crowd because if someone wished her luck, her exam would go bad!
The best memory I have of exams is, before every exam, mom would ask me if I finished reading. I always told her “I will tell you that after exams” and then when I came back and she asked how was exams, I would say “I will tell you when results come” 😀 You see, it is better to keep it simple than raise expectations 😉
This video, perfectly portrays the students’ life before, during and after exams. One of my favorite videos related to exams. If you haven’t seen it already, I am sure you will enjoy watching this.
