I used to call up my sister every time before exam to get her wishes. Somehow whatever she said would come true. I even had a lucky dress that would go unwashed for many days… I still laugh at all the silliness before exams.

My brother does the same before every lab exam. He asks me to pick a number between 1 and 10 and he always gets the one I select! He was angry with me once because I picked a difficult one and he got the same for exam 😀

Ah! Exams. I think I never feared so much about my exams, but I am terribly scared of my son’s exams. He is currently giving his 10th boards! God!! I am worried sick and he is super cool about it!!

I too have that dread of exams. The only time I have truly and wholeheartedly prayed to God for a result, I got it. I had lucky pens and pencils too. Childhood memories. 😀

Lol. Swathi, exam exam ki kahani . I had a set of clothes only for exams. Over time I have trained my mind and told myself that it is all rubbish. But yeah, Facebook and WhatsApp gimmicks I have seen during the placement time and less during exams. All online always

    • swathishenoy says:

Placement time is another biiig story 😀 I didn’t have any particular set of clothes for exam but I did have one which I considered bad luck n never wore it to exam!

Yes, exam times made me religious too!

  6. Kaddu says:

Oh! Hahaha! Could relate with everything in this post! 😀
I would always take to writing during exams. Just random stuff… humorous character sketches of my class mates, fiction, personal reflections… and I’d write these on sheets torn out from my school notebooks.
I would also take up Linda Goodman’s Sun Signs during all the major exams. (Don’t ask me why!)
    Happy AtoZing!

My technique was to call every God possible just as the answer papers were being handed out… I ain’t kidding. I would call the 3 main ones of our religion, then their wives, then the kids of Lord Shiva, then the local variations. I would then move on to Indra, Agni, Surya, Vayu and Varuna!
Yup… they must have helped me pass just to stop me from annoying them! 😀

Exams were quite a pain for me too! Especially when in exam room and the supervisor stands behind you looking into your paper- the feeling is just like, “Oh God!!! Please leave! Or else you’ll know, i am just making up things!!!”

I’m glad I don’t have to give exams anymore! Thankfully, we didn’t have Facebook and WhatsApp at that time so these distractions were not there. I cannot imagine concentrating even a bit on studies in this age of social media. Hats off to you guys who manage that efficiently.

I had finished my university degree (well, my undergrad one) before “social” hit. I’m not sure how I would have coped with studying and all the extra distractions today. I use to intricately paint my nails and clean my room to stall when studying. I also remember a LOT of coffee. And setting my alarm early. I could never pull the all nighters!

Exams were not much a bother for me. I was like Hermione and prepared well for the exams and loved them infact. I used to be a good student and usually was the topper as well. As a child in school, I looked forward to exams just to get the topper award again.

Then Engineering happened and exams became a nightmare. The struggle to pass was quite painful. I remember praying to God every day for making the paper easy. Sigh, the things we do. I’m so glad I’m past that phase now.

Ditto!! Exams weren’t a bother for me till 10th through. I used to skip one or two topics here and there but it was far better than skipping half of the syllabus like we did in engineering! Prayers were a must in that situation!

Hehe. I had a secret routine before exams. We (me and my friend) would sit in a quiet corner of our class and discuss one problem which was easy for both of us. Every time, the problem we discussed would come in the exam. It was our secret and I should say this ritual ensured 20 marks every time we did it. 😀

haha Exams always freaked me out and yes, I did prayers back in school that I would pass. Exams almost killed me with ratta mar and so much tension that goes within. I remember having fever on the eve of exam and Mom would shout at me to wake up and study. Dad was like, health matters more than exams. I recalls college ka exams and studying througout the night. When exams were over, it was party time with friends.
