Arts of Different Form
Though I want to talk about the ‘Art’ art, which I will do in some time, there are many other forms of art which I have observed over the years; the kind of art no one teaches you but you master it with your own effort. Though you see them everywhere, it is during the college days that they are at their best. Confused? Let me get to the point.
The Art of Lying:
I bet we have all mastered this art at some or the other point during our college days. From “I swear Ma’am I have written the assignment. I just forgot to bring it” to “I will definitely start reading everyday from the next semester”, there is some or the other lie which we have told.
The Art of Procrastinating:
On the day assignment is given: “I still have lots of time. I will write tomorrow”
Day of assignment submission: “It was supposed to be submitted today? I totally forgot! Let me borrow your assignment please” 😛
The Art of Bunking:
Let’s admit it. There are a few students who have mastered this and are eligible even for Ph.D. They are never seen in class but somehow they manage to get the attendance. I always envied people of this category!!
The Art of Copying:
From “Just this one answer please” to “I will fail in exam if you don’t help me”, these bunch can get on your nerves if you don’t belong to the lot. They even direct you about your posture, the way you should sit, the angle at which you should keep your answer booklet, your writing speed, everything is decided by them! Those who bring chits are far better than these people. At least, they let you write in peace!
The Art of Texting:
Not just texting, it is texting without looking at the screen. Look at the lecturer and simultaneously chat with your girlfriend/ boyfriend.
The Art of Sleeping:
I don’t know why but a lecture always makes you sleepy. No matter how well you slept last night, the lectures always sound like a lullaby (in fact, they are more effective than the lullabies!) and God forbid, if it’s a early morning lecture or the one soon after lunch! Thus we master the art of sleeping with open eyes. Lecturers also happy and students also happy 😉
Which one did I master?
I did learn some of the above but the one I learnt well was Doodling. Sitting in the last bench and doodling things in my notebook. I guess I should give credits to some of the most boring lectures of my life for improving my drawing skills 😛 Having said that, here is one sketch I had made during one of my classes. This drawing was on the back cover of some notebook I guess!
That was about the different kind of arts and artists I came across during my college days. Coming back to the original topic of art, as promised, I am sharing one of my latest painting 🙂
That’s all for today. Have I missed something? Did it strike a chord? Which were the different type of artists you had seen? Let me know in the comment section.
