Siblings are the greatest of all the blessings you can have. Some of the best memories of our lives are associated with them. I am blessed with a younger brother, who, in every walk of life, has fulfilled his duty of disturbing me, irritating me, making sure my temper flared but most important of all, loving me 🙂
I remember I was very fond of him as a kid. I loved him as soon as I set my eyes on him. But that fondness disappeared as he grew. That tiny creature wanted everything I had. I take a plate, he wants the same plate. I throw it away, he too doesn’t like it. I watch some serial, he suddenly feels like watching some other channel. The TV is idle, he never touches it. So began our fights. We used to fight on every little thing. Holidays were divided into time slots and each time slot belonged to one of us for watching TV. If we had to go anywhere during our slot, the remote came with us. Even though we couldn’t watch TV, we made sure the other didn’t watch anything during our slot!
We used to fight so much over petty matters. Mom used to say we were cat and dog in our previous birth and are continuing the same enmity in this life. We even used to quarrel about who was the cat and who was the dog. Pulling hairs, punching each other, counting who hit whom the highest.. we did it all. Now that I say it, I wonder if he is the reason behind my hair loss!!
Anyways, fast forward to the present. Every neighbor aunty in our colony is jealous of the relation we have. We walk hand in hand, laughing merrily, not noticing the world. If we are together, we don’t need anyone else for company. He loves me and listens to me and I do the same. He cares for me like an elder brother. My joy knew no bounds when he shifted to Bangalore last year for his studies. We meet often, I cook for him whenever I can, he does the same for me when he is free. Any problem, I know he stands by me. Such is the bond we have now and I tell you, that bond is something I wouldn’t trade for anything in this world!
